Decoys for Antelope

Sitting water or a fence crossing  seems to be the
most used approach for Antelope. How many of you
have tried decoys as well, and with what results?

I shot my best antelope with a decoy.  What a blast!  He came charging in hard from a couple hundred yards away and slammed on the brakes within 15 yards.  A buddy was with me holding the decoy and I was set up off to the side a bit tucked into a cut bank.  Doesn't always work like that of course, but when it does, it's great.

Timing is everything for decoying.  That was the only time I have hunted antelope during the right time.  Mid September was good in Montana where we were hunting that year.  Whenever the rut kicks into high gear near you.

Its about as much fun as you can have hunting when it works. Won't work on every one but when it does it will get your heart pumping. Like Whip said, wait till the rut is going strong, in our area it is around Sept 15. Give it a try, great fun.

Yep, if you catch them at the right time, it is a real hoot. They come in snorting and ready to fight.

I guess if we run into the bear that is making these tracks, we oughta just get off the trail.......He seems to like it!

The most fun hunt I have ever been on was decoying antelope. I walked my tail off, and still didn't kill one....but it was an experience I'll never forget!

Where did you purchase your Montana decoy? I need to do the same.
