Extreme deflex/reflex 1-piece longbows?
« on: June 21, 2010, 04:00:00 PM »
What are some bowyers that currently make an extreme deflex/reflex 1-piece longbow?  I'm talking about the kind of curve in the limbs that if you were to extend them a few more inches, it would want to transform into a recurve....

Don't know about transforming into a recurve, but BigJim's buffalo bow is a fairly extreme r/d longbow.

They are recurves when they're like that!   :)   As much as they are "longbows" anyway! How about a Bob Lee "hybrid?" (Don't call them longbows around me)!   :D

Curveman, ironic you mentioned that - I was picturing the Bob Lee's lines in my mind when I was composing my post.  I had one of the  Lee Stickbows for a while, but it just wasn't the bow for me - much too slow for my liking.

I'd love to see a strung profile of BigJim's bows....

Most I have seen tapper into the tips over a longer section so they don’t just look like a recurve with a hair less curl at the ends of the limbs, but the MOAB is probably the one I think of as having the most look of a recurve at the ends of the limbs.  Yet it has more string to limb clearance than most hybrids and is very quiet.

Thanks, bigjim.  I like the lines of your bow.  You have lots of pictures but very few showing the strung profile.
I'll be giving you a call.

Tom take a look at Leon Stewart's LS Slammer. The 60 inch Lil Slamer  posted on the site is pushing it about as far as it will go wo/ turning inside out. Fast and whisper quiet.

Killy,
Likely I won't, as I'm supposed to have a HighPower rifle competition that same weekend.  Gotta make up my mind soon, though.  Jeff and Brooke will be there - camping spot #8.
