My kids went to the Rapid City Schools so I don't know much about the Spearfish public schools, but my son did attend Black Hills State for a year or two.
This is really a bowhunters paradise. Whitetail and Mule deer, antelope, and turkey are over the counter and you generally can have more than one of each. Elk are hard to draw, but are great in quantity and size once you find them. A good amount of public land in the Black Hills and Grass Lands. Large tracts of land enrolled into "Walk in Area's" Check out the Game Fish & Parks website, but keep it a secret would ya.

Good luck,

Sort of from there. Spend part of the year in Spearfish. Lived there until just recently. I have a good contact for a rental. When are you leaving? Be happy to show you around a bit.
Send me a PM I'll give you my contact info.

You will love Spearfish. It is most likely one of the most best places for a sportsman to live. I lived their for 4 years and moved away when I went to college. The school system is very good. If you have children in High School look up Mr. Speirs. He is a english teacher and a local guide. This gentleman has my highest respects. The town is very conservative. (I miss this now that I live in a city). In Spearfish you have more public land then you will know what to do with. I do not know of any rentals in the area off the top of my head. I will be coming up to hunt for Thanksgiving. PM me if you have any more specific questions. I can try to answer any that you have. After you move to spearfish you will not want to go anywhere else.

I lived in SD for a few years on the east side but work put me all over the state but mostly eastern and central. I would move back in a minute. Great hunting and fishing opportunities. The Spearfish area is great, camped and fished around there some. The flyfishing is good. Even tiny little trickles of water seem to have brook trout.
