Terry - My concern with weight up front is the spine getting too weak. I've been shooting this arrow out of my 61 pound longbow, loaded with rope 30.5"bop, Cabelas Stalker Extremes 65-80, The arrow is too stiff for that bow even with 145's....and too light for the recurve at 585gr
My concern is going to the 71 pound recurve, that it will spine too low. I'm pulling the recurve 29.5" ...so figure about 73-75 pounds.
For reference, I've loaded some 2317's with 3/8" poly, but they are just about 800 gr. and I hate the thin-wall. But they do fly well.
My objective with this experiment is to get the stalkers working well. I like the diameter, and like the availabilty/cost of these shafts.
Otherwise I think I'm looking at 2419's ...which are pretty cool, but I think I'd prefer the carbons if I can get them to work. Cotton rope sounds good, but wouldn't it absorb moisture ?
