My question has to do with the fact that I have a hard time deciding which type of bow I want to hunt with a longbow or a recurve. I wanted opinions from other traditionalists who have shot both. Thanks for your info

Hunt with what you shoot the best. Each has pros and cons only you can know what those are for you.

You cannot decide which bow to hunt with by asking others what they like.
You need to shoot both and decide for yourself.

If you can shoot one as well as the other, chose the one that stirs your heart when you carry it.

Try everything you can get your hands on as there is not only a difference between recurves and longbows, there is a HUGE difference between the multitude of bows within those categories.  I generally like certain longbows (wes wallace royal) but have a few recurves that can pinch hit without missing a beat.

If you can afford it and like them both, then get both. That way you you can hunt with whichever grabs your interest in the here and now. Nothing says you have to stick with only one tool, except maybe the current economy. I use the long bow almost exclusively, but still have arrows on hand matched up to the recurves. Just shoot what you like best.

If you currently shoot both, use the one you feel the most confident using.  I switch back and forth, love both types.  For me this season it will be my new Griffin.  Even though the Griffin is technically a LB, it is short like a recurve 60" and is a R/D LB using a 6 strand 450+ string.  It really doesn't give up much compared to a recurve.

Pick what fits your mood and the one you shoot the best for your hunting adventures.

I only have one recurve its a black widow 58''. I have a few different longbows, the one i like most is the Acs Adcock 64''. I shoot all my bows well, (death ader, vypercon, bear bow) but especially the two that mentioned first. Preferably i would probrably shoot the longbow, its quiter, and is easier to shoot than that extremely short bow. On the other hand the Black Widow shoots faster and is much more beautiful.

Lots of good advice here.  Shoot everything you can and then shoot what you shoot best.  This is totally subjective to you and what fits you best.

68 inch longbows fit me best.

This is crazy there is almost a half and half of people who like recuves compared to longbows. i figured one of them would win out by a lot, particularly the longbow. out of longbows and recurves which one has been around longest? anyone know

I have owned recurves but never shot them very much.  I shoot a 70" longbow patterned after the Howard Hill style.
