White spliced fletchings
« on: July 01, 2010, 12:43:00 PM »

I think I have found my favorite fletching for visibility.  The ones that are spliced white with orange barred feathers look like white dots going through the air.

Thanks guys. I've gotten away from crown dipping. I like seeing the grain of these Surewoods instead of covering them up.

I use the same but red instead of orange on my elk arrows.  Very nice!

My splicing attempts have never come out looking like that.  What's the secret to getting them to glue together so evenly?  I can't do it.......

Joe, I use to have one heck of a time getting a good glue joint too. I started out "butt end" gluing them. Didn't like that. Went to grinding the base down with a dremel type tool. That was better. Then I tried stripping the the quills off the feather I am going to use for the splice. It takes the thin membrane off with the quills. Love it! Perfect!
