Coon targets are set up around the edge of the woods below the pavilion where all the vendors and activities take place.  After it gets dark you shoot the targets using flashlights to illuminate their eye (bright eyes tacks). Loads of fun.

Mongoose, it's near Beckley, WV - Exit 44 OFF I77, Take Harpers Road to the west (left) and about 8 miles later watch for sign to Lake Stephens (to right). You can get more directions off the link Kenneth gave, or off web site at  lakestepenswv.com

Thanks for the info on the coon shoot David!  That sounds like a blast!  Are they on the ground or in the trees?  If they're in the trees I better make up a couple spiral flu-flu's for the occasion.

Kenneth, the coon targets are on the ground--there are also a few lynx and bobcats thrown in for good measure and a good mixed bag.

Will get there this afternoon through Sat. evening. Really look forward to this shoot, always a good one.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
