Looking for Bowhunting DVD to show Kids?
« on: July 02, 2010, 09:49:00 PM »
Mallard Manor Ministries ( Drew Mississippi) will be having a bowhunting workshop for kids ages10-14 late this month. Myself and Hogdancer have 4 hours to build a couple of wood bows and expose 22 kids (from various backgrounds) the passion of bowhunting. Is there a DVD out here that touches on the history, dedication and sport in general? Obviuosly i would prefer it heavy weighted in Traditional Bowhunting. I thought a 45-1 hour DVD would be a good way to start our seminar off before 3 hours of tillering and shooting.............any suggestions? i'm all ears

Joey,

This my not be the kind of thing you have in mind, but there is a condensed version of Primal Dreams that was edited with school kids in mind. I think it is about 50 minutes long.

If you want to borrow a copy for your workshop, I'd be glad to send to mine.  Also have the full version if you'd rather use it, but I think it might be more like 90 minutes long.  I'll check the run times if you want me to.

Let me know if you'd like to see it...

I would have to go with Denny and Daryls video Vision Quest. I tried to find my copy and must have lost or loaned it.
If I remember it has footage of Kids shooting and bowfishing. Rabbit hunting with a Beagle and Turkeys and of course some deer hunting.I think its the one where Dennys Wife kills a deer as well.

It starts out with a guy walking by an old Indian arrow head.My choice for sure.RC

Another vote for Primal Dreams- I think they have a shorter version that has been used in education/schools etc.

We (Brothersofthebow)would like to donate a dozen of the 50 minute condensed version of Primal Dreams DVDs for the kids. Maybe you could give them away as prizes or something. Hopefully it will be a positive impact on their parents/families also. Where do you want us to send them? Thanks. BOTB

joebuck - Denny Sturgis Jr. and I will gladly donate some Vision Quest DVD's.  They are family oriented and all traditional.  Pm me the address and I'll get them in the mail pronto.

Thanks for working with the kids.  Sounds like a great program.
