Olive wood

Anybody know if Olive wood would be good for a riser? Just got some great looking Olive wood and it is stunning. That Dang Blasted Robtattoo had a great knife with handles of Olive wood. So maybe somebody alraedy made a bow from this great wood?<><

Hi Frank,

I know Rocdoc wanted to make a riser from olive wood.

It is extremely solid and stable, I'm sure it's safe.

I know you will make a fantastic bow   :)

Hold up manny I am not making a bow LOL! I am planning on have a 3pcs TD longbow made from olive wood. that is if it is suitable(SP). Was thinking olive wood with a ebony stripe or flare with olive wood vaneers and sheep horn tips and overlays.

If concerned with strength have them put a phenolic or glass stripe in the riser to stiffen it up a bit Frank.

If you are talkig about Mediterranean Olive-I think it would probably work well. If you are talking about Russian Olive.... It is beautiful but soft and brittle.
