Here is one from a couple of years ago.  Instead of thinking about what to do in the middle of January, I'll be heading south to try again.  Jim

My boys and I haven taken quite a few, but none with traditional equipment. I plan on working really hard to make that happen this year. Taking one with traditional equipment no matter what the size is a true trophy.

I booked my hunt with Arrow Five outfitters thru Bowhunting Safari Consultants It was a flight from Phoenix into Sonora Mexico, landing in Hermissilo. About 3 hrs east of there was the ranch and it was very large and several thousand acres.
The first morning I saw lots of deer, 30-40 I am guessing and it was very exciting knowing from my tree stand, I could have so many around me.

Coues deer hunts don't have you out in the morning at darkthirty - you can eat and arrive at your stand around 830a. The deer come to water about 9a and when they come, you never hear the gray ghosts, they are just there. I will post some pics and continue...

The country was awesome. The weather was very mild. I had dressed in layers so as the day wore on, i shed clothes as needed.

I saw lots of sign and many deer everyday. This rub was close to a waterhole where I eventually hunted.

Here is the view and my shooting lane. The fence is 18  yds and you can see a doe ready to jump the fence and come get a drink...

Finally, the deer stepped into a shooting lane. I shot and he bounded a short distance 40 yds away and laid down...

My self portrait in the field. Unfortunately, I don't have pics of the second deer's events leading up to the kill. He approached the same water hole via the same path. I had nearly an identical shot and was so excited he was symmetrical with 2 brow tines. #2 scored 76 3/8" P & Y.

Thanks for the story and pictures. You should be proud of those coues deer.
Take care,
