Who makes a good bow string?
« on: May 08, 2007, 10:52:00 PM »
I am in the market for a couple of strings. What TradGang sponsor makes and sells quality fast flight or similar strings?

Thanks, Louis

I got a couple coming from Goldenhawk  (LeRoy Carlson) from this site, email is [email protected] , I'll post after I've got to shoot them a little, but you couldn't ask to deal with a finer gentleman.

Just got some in from Champion, exactly what I ordered, really nice strings.

Louis, did you shoot a black widow bow awhile back (about 9 yrs. ago)? I went to a shoot in San Angelo on a Sunday, and it was just me and another shooter there. Thought it might have been you, BUT I have slept since then so can't remember much.

As stated--give Chad at recurves.com a call!

Very nice DF97's....and great attention to detail!

Chad Weaver's a good feller...and makes a fine string...but he doesn't carry TS+ which I prefer over all other materials.

Take a look at primetimestrings.com for both endless loop and flemish strings made out of most materials, including TS+. Coincidentally, his name is Chad too. I've been more than pleased with the quality of product, customer service, and true custom nature of his strings (I want my serving an exact size, exact length, in an exact position on the string and he hits it perfect).

What JC said. The "primetime" strings I've bought have been absolutely perfect, exactly as ordered. While I've never used Champion strings, I've heard nothing but good things about them. I'd say it would be hard to go wrong with either.

Ditto what JC said. Primetime makes an excellent string. TS+ is a great string material. Fast like DF 97 and quieter than DF 97.

Is TS+ really noticeably quieter than D97?

I bought some TS-1+ from 3 Rivers, had it shipped to my son and he built an endless loop string for me.  When I received it I took it to the Archery Shop, strung my bow up to shoot and when the owner of the shop saw it he asked "Where did you get the Winners Choice string?"  When I told him it was made by my son he was surprised that it wasn't a Winners Choice.  My son makes excellent strings for friends and for his Dad!

Yup, at least on my bows (and quite a few other folks I know) it is.

They're not sponsers here and they are two guys that have a Trad Shop as a hobby. But Scott from Pequest Valley Archery in New Jersey  makes without a doubt the finest strings I have ever owned. Any kind and the best dingleberries too [cat whiskers].He can make his cat whiskers  the size of your thumbnail if you want. They're down at the Baltimore shoot as I type.Let me know if you want their #.Also as far as TS-1 that material made a beleiver out of me.I have it on my Turkeycreek longbow. Before I swoar by B-50 until I shot TS-1.just my 2 cents.
