Terry that depends on a lot of different things.

First are you hunting High or low elavation wise.

What is your approximate time line.

The rut is in mid november roughly. Most places in wyoming the season is closed while the mule deer are rutting.

I need to talk with you about our conversation  last week as well Terry.

Terry I am no expert but I hunt in the Laramie peaks area. I killed a great buck there 3 years ago the 3rd week of Sept. I found several bucks coming out of the rocks to feed at a hay field and moved in after they went to bed. I got lucky and caught the biggest one closest to me with the wind right. I think hunting rutting mulies would be really tough. I am going out Sept 1st to try again! GOOD LUCK!

I saw some big bucks near Sheridan chasing doe and lip curling in the second week of October. And then I spent a week during the 1st week of November on the Wyo/SD border near Devils tower and there didnt appear to be any mulie rutting going on.Whitetails were hot but mulies were still feeding and pretty much nocturnal. The ranch owner said Thanksgiving is a guarantee to find the grey faces coming out of the hills all day long.My favorite all time hunt.

Terry I've gone anywhere from Sept 1-Nov.15 and only saw bucks fighting and that was mid to late sept., but never any doe activity. I'm going 3rd week in Sept this year again, I like the cooler weather and it can be very warm in beginning of sept. Nov. is beginning for the rifle hunters, after that those boys are pretty spooky. Get high and glass yor butt off, the windier it is the better and by some bearsfeet from cabelas, they go over your boot and stalking is much quieter and it beats socks cause they have a lot of cactus out there. I'm sure FerretWyo. will give you the run done but if you need more info pm me, I hunt the foothills and plains.  Good luck
