Traditional and Primitive Archery Expo in Iowa
« on: July 07, 2010, 05:24:00 PM »
I am exploring the possibility of putting on a Traditional and Primitive Archery Expo next March at the Sullivan Brothers Convention Center/Ramada Inn in Waterloo, Iowa. Since these events are expensive to put on, I'd like some input from fellow TradGangers re. potential interest for a show in that part of the country. Thanks everyone. Tom

Well, you've got 3 awesome bowyers in Iowa you could talk into having booths, Lost Creek, Tall Tines and Kanati. That would be a draw right there. How far is Iowa from Colorado?....hmmm..road trip!

The exposition hall accomodates up to 80 vendors, the Ramada Inn (attached) would reserve a block of rooms for the event. It is within reasonable driving distance from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Kansas, Colorado? and of course Iowa. That particular section of the country needs to have an event like this and I hope it will become popular down the road. Tom

Please stay away from the weekend of 25-27 there is a PBS event in PA that weekend that will hurt your turn out

I'm interested. Sounds like a dangerously good time.  I probably couldn't have gone to the one you planned in Ohio this year but was looking forward to hearing about it.

Keep us posted!

I'm totally there. I'll be able to go and meet some Tradgangers and get over my Kalamazoo Envy.
Hopefully there will be some big name bowyers there and I can plop down some cash on my much needed back up bow.

Thanks for the input, guys. David,I definitely will avoid the March 25-27 weekend as a possibility for the expo... I have a personal conflict a with that weekend, also. I will travel to Waterloo next week to check out the facilities and soon thereafter begin contacting bowyers and vendors about attending the event. Thanks again,Tom

I'd attend for sure, it would be great to have something like this in Iowa, especially that time of the year.

Are you considering having 3D courses set up somewhere or target range for some friendly competition?  Just asking....

You might want to try and schedule it so it coincides with the Spring Break for schools. That's usually around mid-March. I know the O-JAM event in Oklahoma is usually around that time of year and it drew a big crowd this year despite the weather...

I will attend.  I grew up in Cedar Falls but live in Michigan now.  Always looking for an excuse to get back west of the Mississippi.  My brother lives out there and this would give me a chance to introduce him to traditional archery.  Hope it comes together.

There are a few of us in Manchester that would love to see something like that 45 minuts away! When you get it set up I'll spread the word!
God bless and good hunting!
