It just hit me, I turning 50......
« on: July 07, 2010, 07:55:00 PM »
God permitting, this november I will be 50 years old and no I am not going through a mid-life crisis; I am very thankful to be where I am at BUT there are so many things I want to do as far as bowhunting is concerned; I want to go far north and hunt moose, west to hunt elk and mule deer, and kill a grand slam of turkeys with my bow; the main reason that I having a hard time to accomplish these dreams is of course ..money   :( ...and with the economy the way it is it is hard to set aside enough to go on these hunts;

But if for some reason that I can't go I will be more than happy to hunt deer and turkey where ever I am; life passes by so fast and the years seems to have a way of "sneaking" up real quick; anyways, just food for thought for some of you "youngins'" out there, go for your dreams, don't let ANYONE say ..you can't..and NEVER GIVE UP!!

God bless all.............   :campfire:

I've been planning my midlife crisis for years.  I'm starting the countdown in a couple years at 45.  I got 7 years to save for that Harley, pay off the house, get a shack in the woods and learn to live off kibble.  I am SO looking forward to it.  Congrats on making it.  Now get busy on that "crisis"
Take a kid hunting!

It's all down hill after that brother   :scared:  Na just kidding, I'm going to be 51 don't feel any different than when i turned 40, God willing you'll have lots of time to get it done. I think the older you get the more you learn to appreciate things.

This was 16 years ago for me and it keeps getting better. I still have things I want to do, wants that have not been done yet but so is life. When time runs out I will not have too many regrets. MIKE

Just turned 60 and am retired. Best job in the world.

If there is something you really want to do, make a plan and follow thru. Otherwise one day will just run into another.

All the best.  Oh by the way... the warranty is over at 50.

Heck, you guys are just pups. Turned 63 the last time around and knock on wood, doing just fine.

You just have to do things in order, #1, take care of and provide for your family. #2, make sure your wife is happy because if she's happy your happy. When it's your time be ready for it, it will come.

I will be 67 this Dec.  The more I read the threads on this site the more I realize that this life is just one big candy store.  My goals have had a way of morphing into one common thought, keep challenging yourself and learn something new each day, and let the journey be the goal.

I've been in the 50's for six years. It wasn't/isn't traumatic at all.  I do find myself paying a bit more attention to the type of terrain my hunting might get me into. I didn't think about such things in my 30's. Also, I'll wake up sore here and there some mornings and have to think hard about what I did yesterday to cause that? However, my passion for archery is as strong today as when I made the first bow in the 3rd grade and terrorized the local robin population.

Remember, when you turn 50 you have already survived your 50th year! The birthday celebrates having made it another one. I realized this when I turned 30 which bothered me more than 40 or 50.  If I make it to 60 that would be just fine but if not, I know where I'm going and I'll better than fine with Him.

I turned 60 a couple weeks ago, If I didn't need to have both knees replaced, I would be feeling pretty good. Hopefully there will be many more years to enjoy Trad hunting.

51 last month and I still feel like a kid when I take the bow out!

I don't scout as much, and I hardly ever use the climber anymore. I can easily decide to go back to bed if it's a little too cold or wet for a morning hunt. I'll have a hang on or two in place for most evenings and ground hunt the rest. I shoot almost every day and hunt groundhogs with a passion all summer long. And I discovered hog hunting at Ray's, quite the affordable excursion and his "ridges" are about 5 feet high!  :)

Bifocals, arthritis, bad knee, should lose some weight, but generally not too bad.

My childhood friend died in his sleep yesterday at age 52 from an apparent heart attack. You gotta live every day like it's your last! Hug your kids and grandkids, kiss your wife, and laugh often with your friends. You never know.
There is no great fun, satisfaction, or joy derived from doing something that's easy.  Coach John Wooden

I know I am blessed.... I can remember fifty..lol

I stopped having birthdays, now I just celebrate anniversary's of my birthday.

I no longer look at seasons either, my years are now marked into two categories, either the days are getting longer or the days are getting shorter.

You'll be just fine! I am having more fun now than when I was fifty.

Happy 10th anniversary early of your 40th.

God bless,Mudd

Guys in general has a tendency to focus on what they missed or don't have !

Instead of focusing on what is at hand !

I am no exception ,But I have to say at the age of 60 ,I have not missed anything ,God has been good !

Happiness is not found in what you can hang on to, It's found in what holds you .

I'll be 58 the middle of September. I pretty much do everything I ever did just maybe a little slower. I still love shooting the bow and just being in the woods as much a ever. Try to make the most of every day.
