November what?   :wavey:    :archer:  I wke up every morning at 4:30. Work out for a half hour take a shower and get ready for work. You have to stay in shape! I do it because there is 450 guys out of work at my Union Hall and 98% are probably younger than me and ready to take my job!

Being on the 50's is a blessing.

I'll be on the same class next year.

Somebody said that .-Our main purpose in life is to be and make others happy.

Make it worth.

It's all in your genes...and I'm not talkin Wranglers, brother!

I've had so many things funneling down on me and pushed hard throughout my life to see if I could avoid all the physical crap.  It's a crap shoot and it "depends". Hopefully, that ain't a product name looming on the horizon.

First, it depends on how well you keep your body fit. Good health does NOt EQUAL dying slowly. Health is an investment. Guard it wisely!

Second, it depends on your genetics. I went to Uncle Ray's to hunt hogs and between the 13 hrs of riding in a truck and then walking a good bit, I was toast. Knee blew up, hip went south.

I was/am a hurtin unit and I've been back 5 days!

So whatever you want to do, don't delay for this "retirement" crap. Take John3's lead and do it NOW!  I didn't and I regret it. Played it safe and tried to do the deligent thing and it dind't work as well as I'd like.  Gene pool my tushkis, I got a cesspool!

62 ain't what it was cracked up to be and without health care, the things that can be kinda fixed, don't get done.

I'm fixing to realign my sights and just focus on what I can do and manage my time afield, the amount of exertion and make it work. Still want to get back to Ray's...but then there is the whole economic issue.

Sorry to rant...or crybaby. But geeze guys, everyone is different. Life is to be lived and used up. I regret pushin too hard to prove nothing and now...? Well, things have happened fast that are making me regret some of the pushing hard AND some of the delays that now may never happen.

Get out there! Do it! Do it NOW!

Wish I was 50 again. I turn 60 in November. I hurt in places, but will get out there till I die. I just feel better in the woods.

Jeremy, I was 34 just the other day.  Uh-oh, that was 30 years ago, maybe I am developing alzhiemers!

Seriously, don't let life get in the way of the things you love to do.  There will ALWAYS be reasons why you "can't" do something. You really can if you plan good enough and work hard enough.

I suppose it's good that I can't afford a boat or a Jaguar or a Harley.  My midlife crisis only amounted to a couple years of fickle bow-buying and trading.

Hear, hear on the physical shape thing.  I'm gonna stay young.  My father has all the time he needs but his knees will not let him do much.

Everyone is born with a birthdate, and then we have that long dash in between that and our ending date.

I'm still trying to make the best of the dash.....

Lets see what I can do next.

Great statement Cottonwood.

You reminded me of one of the best poems I have heard, called "The Dash".  I don't know if this is where you got it from, but everybody should read or hear The Dash by Linda Ellis.

For me, bow hunting with my family and the other people who do it is a big part of my dash.

Warning:  This is a corny video.  If you don't like them, skip it . . . .

55 and haven't slowed down... at least that I can tell.  Still can hump up the big hills out here and chase elk, deer and bear.  Life is good!  Retiring from the Navy this fall after 30 years and still haven't figured out what I want to do after I grow up... I truly believe 50's are the new 30's....

A friend sent me this when I turned 60, 6 years ago.

"Charles, you can't buy 40 again, heck, you can't even buy 50 or 55 again. You can't buy memories of the hunt you didn't take, the trip you turned down with your family or the adventure you declined, the struggle you bypassed,or the excitement you had no eyes to see. These memories are the coins of the spirit. They can make an old man so rich he can truly say that life has just begun for him. Without such memories, he will be desperately poor in spirit. And that form of poverty has no insurance. Your friend."
He did not author this and did not know who did. It is taped to the top of my desk and I read it most every day.  Take Heed and HAPPY TRAILS!

Yer just a young Pup... I turn 60 next year and was feeling like you earlier this spring when I was not sure I could pull off the bear hunt in AK with HOC.  This was the "One Dream" I have had my whole life..Right before it was ready to start , I started thinking of giving my spot away. [ My problem was not so much money as it was age and physical condition ]

I did not want to slow anybody down, or hold them back in any manner...I talked with Hogdancer, my friend Curt Yeager and my wife.. They all encouraged me to go. As, I had saved up and paid the hunt off in installments over the previous year and a half...and it's all I had been talking about.

I went, and had the "Time of my Life" was even lucky enough to get a "spot and stalk" Boar with my recurve and a couple nice halibut. [ CJ  Lacosta, who had already got his bear, and was one of the youngsters on the trip, did do most of the work getting my bear to a place we could pick it up with the zodiac...I can't thank him enough]

Bottom line is do it !!!...Save up.. and make a dream or two come true. We aren't getting any younger and we won't live forever.

I tell my friends I'm a "teenager with Wrinkles" and just keep going out and trying to "Get er' Done"

Mid-life crisis has hit me hard... before I retired I started "collecting"... I got the Electra-glide, motorhome, boat, quads, camp trailer, a Tundra 4x4 and a beautiful 73 bronco...and even live in the log cabin in the woods on a bit of land of my own.. Believe me, even though it's all mine and paid for.. that stuff dont' mean a thing if you don't get out and use them... I'd trade any or all of it for some youth    :wavey:
