20 pounds away! 49 days to do it.

I'm pumped!  Utah this year.
I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed. And the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep trying.

No Colorado for me this year.  :jumper:    :jumper:    :jumper:

I've dropped some weight and been working on getting in shape - mostly bicycle riding.  I won't be the fastest guy in the mountains, but I will be there!

Ramping up my running and leg workouts, looking at maps regularly and trying to think of all the what if's!

Can't wait for my first trip West with a bow in hand!

yup I am ready...never not been ready!! Except for the first time of course...no one can really explain what to expect in a way that one can comprehend! It kicks your butt the first time almost without exception. From that point on you know what is really required to be in mountain "shape".

I'm ready. Playing ice hockey, upper body free wts,  and one day a week at 8000 feet or better scouting(climbing).
I also shoot my bow sometimes...

I've never done anything special for elk hunting and never had a problem.  I just stay active year round.

I'm moving this month into a nice Elk area. I wont be able to afford the hunt, but I'm going to do it anyway. Go through all the motions only without broadheads. The only shot I'll be able to afford (since I will still be a non-res.) is with my camera. Wish me luck!

Delta, The maps from MyTopo.com are great.  Seems like if I order maps I always end up needing 3 or 4 because one map doesn't cover the whole area.  With MyTopo you can center the map where ever you like to cover the entire area you are interested in.  Plus they can be printed on nice high quality waterproof paper.

Does anybody take Diamox?  I'm seriously considering that this year.  Going high this year and don't want to waste the first couple days feeling like a drunk.

I'm ready.  Wish I could leave tomorrow...now I have to "maintain" everything until end of August.  I do have a scouting trip planned later this month.  Have a couple of new additions to my arsenal that I want to do a trial run with....

Im always in shape... but i take the mountains seriously! Ive been running 3 miles/3 times a week, and have been walking on a off road horse trail with a fully loaded pack(58lbs), 2 miles/2 times a week!!! Also have been doin a ton of core work as always, plyo pushup regimine, brick toss in the grove behind the house, pullups, twists, shooting my bow after physical exertion with a high heart rate(thats a chore in itself), you name it! 6'1" 188lbs of elk hunting fury, and after that i get to come back to MN and hunt my bear baits that a friend will be maintaining for me for the 2 weeks im in CO!

I take Diamox when I am over 10,000 feet. This year I will be betwwen 7 and 9,000. It works but you have to drink alot of fluids and avoid soda or beer...tastes flat on Diamox.
