"Classic" Group at ATAR - 2010
« on: July 11, 2010, 10:30:00 AM »
First off, I want to thank Tom Bohl for not only organizing this annual group of shooters but also for allowing me to shoot his "very nice" 1961 Grizzly. It was the perfect weight and had the ability to shoot much better than I shot her.

I have several pictures that I will add to this thread later of the "group" in action but for now this is the group before hitting the range. I can tell you.......this was one of the most enjoyable times that I have had the pleasure to be involved in, and plan on making it a "must do" in my future visits to ATAR. I'm not worth a crap with remembering names.......I know, and have met several of the members in the photo previously but anyone that wants to jump on into this thread and identify all present.....please do. I can tell you.......you won't find a better group of people......anywhere on earth.

Next year......I'll have my own "classic" as one of our group of shooters was kind enough to offer me a 1960 (the year I was born) true "classic" Bear bow in excellent shape. It will be on my bow rack in the next month or so. I should also thank my wife for not only taking the pictures that I will post, but also for "inquiring" to the group as to my "wanting" a 1960 model Bear bow for myself. She enjoys the company of the traditional archers as much as I do........what more could a man ask for. She's a "keeper" !!!

Thanks Tom !!!!!

The guy beside me in the back row's name is Robert aka Robhunter.....instead of Randy, we hung out together most all day......so I'm sure of that.

Thanks again Tom, for organizing this and allowing me the use of your bow.

Old bows with their associated old(er) archers can still kill!

Yes, this was a vintage/classic shoot with vintage/classic archers (Bruce, Tom, Jeff and Bernie) waiting for their turn for the next open porta-pot.  Errrrrr, hmmmmm, oh, sorry… waiting for their turn on the line.

In a moment of clarity… the old archers find their way out of the woods.

Great pictures David.  Thanks.  Great time again this year.  Tom thanks for heading this up.  Vintage bow eye candy around every corner.  Making new friends and sharing great times with old friends...  That's what it's all about folks.  Had a blast.  Looking forward to the next get together.

I spent most all of the weekend shooting (all over the place) with my old friend, and fromer Marine, Bill Pearce - and interacting with my daughter, Lois and Killdeer and the ATAR kids. However I broke away long enough to borrow a (I believe) Kodiak Special from Tom Bohl and join in the Classic Bow Tradgang shoot and, boy, am I glad I did. It was the most fun, instead of an after-lunch nap, that I can remember having in a long time. AND I was having fantastic fun all weekend! Met some new Tradgang friends and, as always, enjoyed the shooting company of some old ones.

Thanks for the loan of the 66", smooth, accurate shooting bow, Tom. The friendly, fun atmosphere created by all the shooters, and the welcome company, conversation (cats over the years, in common), and picture taking by Don's wife, Brenda.

What a great "shoot within a shoot" it was. I wish everyone could have a real large cup full of the camaraderie shared during that 2O target symphony of shooting fun.

Great pics, Dave (sneaky quiet too     ;)    )
I'm still working on my pictures - just a tad slow -   :goldtooth:

Jeff... I goofed on the photos.  She used the Morrison on the Comp. Course (Friday).  Oh well, that woman still has an evil grin.  (LOL)

As for me, it was the first time I'd really talked to Bob Morrison, about the ILF bows, and I really enjoyed the conversation.  The bad part?  He had this 17" Cocobolo riser that was talking to me.... so beautiful....Ughhhhhhhh!!!!  The bad thing about meeting the Morrison bow (and the Morrisons) was that I just bought a Fire Fly FX two weeks ago.  So, how am I going to explain it to the wife if I walked home with ANOTHER bow!?!?

Bernie, you are more than welcome to shoot any of my bows anytime. Yes, the bow was a '61 Kodiak Special. It was a pleasure to shoot with everyone. Will do it again next year for sure. Take care and everyone have a great and safe hunting season.
