Margly, I shoot Beman MFX's and if this is your initial set up with carbons allow me to say that carbons in general are MUCH stiffer than any chart indicates. While I have no doubt that the MFX 500's I shoot are .500 spine, mine are 30 1/2" throat to b.o.p. and bare shaft, paper tune and fly beautifully fletched with 345 grains up front out of my 54 lbs. @ 29" Toelke Whip. There is more at play here than the rapid recovery from paradox carbons display. If I shoot the spine and point weight that the charts indicate I am extremely spine stiff, the point of this being that you may discover that you can shoot a lighter spine than you think and find the lower g.p.i. that you want.
