Dried Badger, how do I get the leather soft again
«

Several years ago, a buddy of mine in Texas sent me a whole badger pelt that was complete instead of split. It was very flat and dry, but I have run several things down to try and get the stifness out of it, because I would love to either slide this over an existing quiver or make it into a nice quiver.
Should I split it up the belly, and then wrap my existing back quiver with it.
Is there a way to soften the dried hyde of the badger, with out damaging the fur?

The only way I know to soften a hide is to work it with your hands until you break the stiffness.

I was working in like you said, and got the badger to slide over my quiver.
What do you think?

With the head left on, its pretty long. I was thinking about trimming that off, but haven't decided on that yet.
