New Mikuta...So this is what smooth means...
« on: July 15, 2010, 06:59:00 PM »
Over the weekened I bought a Mikuta recurve from George of Tollgate Traditions (sponsor here) and I could not be happier with it.  62" 44#@28"  Incredibly smooth and faster than my previous bow which is a pound heavier.  Without tuning or changing anything I'm shooting better than I ever have.

I'll be contacting Mr. Mikuta very soon about some heavier limbs and hopefully I can tour his shop.

Thank you George and thanks Ed Mikuta for making an awesome bow!

Yeah, I've seen a few of his youth bows.  They're nice.  George has a couple lefties in stock.

I have a Mikuta longbow, have had it a long time. I have done some mods to the grip and increased the brace to 8" and now it's a real sweetheart to shoot. Great cast and no handshock. It's going to be my bow for the Muzzy shoot next month!

My first bow was a Mikuta 3 piece TD recurve. Great bow and even a nicer bowyer. He might not be as well known as many out there but his bows will shoot with the best. Made my first trad kill with that bow. Passthrough 18yds on a black bear.
Enjoy that bow.

My buddy has one and it is a real nice shooter.  He just had a new set of limbs made with a little more poundage for a trip to Africa.  I think they only cost him $250 plus Mr. Mikuta repaired his original limbs which were starting to delaminate (not the fault of the bowyer!)  I think these are good bows at a very reasonable price and Dave's bow is beautiful!

Everything I've heard and read has been positive other than some people don't like thumbrests.  I'm glad to hear that limbs are that reasonably priced.

This bow already shoots great and will do even better after I tweak a few things.  I'm going to re-serve the string with a thinner thread and less of it and lower the nocking point a bit.
