Thanks for all the congrats, glad to say the garden is safe and the bow is fine also. At least I concentrated for the right second but then went to heck.
Groundhogs are tough little critters and I just grabbed one of my "late season" bows and arrow. That brass inset and heavy head give some momentum for sure.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Had a similar episode a month or so back, only difference was it was a family of them, and they took up residance under our deck.  Like Tom, I found that GT 3555's with Snuffers, shot from the second floor window blind / stand are pretty good medicine for these pests.

My shooting wasn't quite as good, I'm mainly a ground pounder not used to elevated shots, and it showed; first couple shots were harmlessly high.

I eventually got it figured out and shot the youngin shown here, and I got mama as well.  Mama made a bloody mess, a mighty doggone good thing that the Mrs. was at work and I had time to get the hose out...

Good shooting SJ, only one way I've figured to get rid of them once they take up residence. We are the solution. My wife thanked me for saving her flowers but wasn't interested in the how of the situation which is fine with me. But figured some on TG wouldn't mind the reality of a well placed arrow.
