I came across some scrap shipping foam at work that was being tossed out and it looked like it was itching to be made into a broadhead target. Both pieces were 30 by 33 and 5 1/2 inches thick. To make the target a bit deeper (so I can shoot at it from both faces), I bought a 4 x 8 sheet of 2 inch thick contruction foam. I cut the sheet into matching sizes to be sandwiched in between the two large pieces of foam.
Next, I glued the pieces together with contruction adhesive. ***CAUTION*** If you build a target with construction foam, make sure to uses the PL300 for foam. Regular contruction adhesive like liquid nails will melt the foam.
While building up the layers, I added a webbing strap to act as a handle. It is also held in place with the adhesive.
I had on hand a few pieces of 3 inch thick blue foam and used that as the base to lift the target off the ground. I also attached it with the foam adheasive. Then I filled both faces with spots. On the back side, I alternated the spots so they did not line up with the spots on the front. The final dimensions are 33 x 33 x 19 inches deep and it weighs 16 pounds.
The larger spots are the same size as the heart on the WBH broadhead shoot target and the size of the hole in the Ultimate broadhead challenge target. I will have this target on hand at the ultimate broadhead challenge for competitors to practice on.
