Order of the Arrow
« on: July 18, 2010, 09:51:00 PM »
How many of us are members of Order of the Arrow?  I was a brotherhood member years ago, I was just thinking that their had to be other "gang-sters" involved as well, and maybe have a few good stories.

I'm a member from more years ago than I care to remember. Boy Scout Troop 64, Vallejo, Calif. Didn't quite make it to Eagle. Life was as far as I went. Those were great days!

Let's see - around 41 years ago and I think it was at Camp Tuscarora in NY.  Lot of pranks pulled off there at Summer camp.  The Arrow ceremony was serious time, though, around a big coucil fire if I remember it rightly.

I never was in the Scouts because of me having other activities & work "yes I had a job before I was 13" that took my time away, but I now wish I would have been able to.

I was Life in 1976. Became involved again about 8 years ago as an assistant den leader. Spent 3 years as a den leader and I'm just finishing up my 3rd year as a Cubmaster. I was tapped out for the OA 2 years ago and took Brotherhood last year. I'm very proud to be a member. Hope to make Vigil next year. Oh yeah, I'm 49 years old. Scouting is still important to me.

Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow since late '90s

My dad brother and me were also OA.  The Boy Scout program instilled in me a fascination with the outdoors which has proved never-ending.  It also fueled my fire for hunting and fishing.  Shot my first bows there.

Eagle Scout. Brotherhood OA
The old order is passing. Swiftly receding into memory are the days of strong, earnest men who followed an atavistic yearning to pit their skills against wild animals.

I never made it as a scout, but as an adult was able to do my ordeal and make Brotherhood with my son. Just happen to be wearing my lodge t shirt today. Haven't worn that for years.
