Texas bow building event
« on: July 19, 2010, 10:36:00 AM »
I have been to Ojam and Mojam.  They were great.
I would like to see one here in Texas.

Is there currently anything like it in Texas?

How many people could we get together to teach building bows?

DFW (Irving) is the headquarters for the Boy Scouts. I am sure we would have a great turn out from them.

Just one suggestion, I would rather be out a ways from any big city. Of course in Texas it would just depend on where you were able to get access too.
Ask me about CTO.

My biggest fear is too many would show up and not enough experienced knowledgeable trad gang'ers.

There are more people in the DFW metro-plex than in the whole state of Oklahoma.

If I invited the Boy Scouts and public schools, there could be thousands of kids.

Contact our neighbors in Oklahoma. They should be able to give you some pointers. Start small and get organized before you open it up to all comers. The worse thing you can do is hold the event and not be able to handle the crowd.

Yeah, I think that opening up to the schools and boy scouts the first year might be a bad thing.

I am not a bow builder and would like to learn, but I am willing to help out if needed.
Ask me about CTO.

I have contacted someone with the city parks and rec.  He is going to make contact with someone one with Texas parks and rec.

I tend to agree to big to soon would not be good.
I also agree the fine folks in Oklahoma would be the best thing for getting us started.

Does anyone know who to contact from the Oklahoma Selfbow Society?
