These are my first two 3 pc takedowns. Also my first footed risers. Woods are macassar ebony and tulipwood. One doesn't have finish or skins yet but it will soon. i am also building recurve limbs for these risers. what do you think? They are both pretty fast and very quiet and shock free.

Wow...I think they're beautiful...my only criticism would be to intigrate the limbs with the risr more at the limb butts...

You know...I think they'll look great with recurve limbs...

Very, very impressive...

Very very nice Dan.Great job on the footed risers. The finish looks very sharp. What Cutty said.I would taper the riser toward the end to flow into the limb butts more seamlessly.Thats just my taste though.Purely aesthetic. Some people would prefer the extra mass though.Excellant work, no doubt about it!Appreciate the pics.

Thanks all, cutty and steelhead - Yeah with this design I only have 3 inches of limb butt overlapping the riser on each limb. The risers are only 14" and that doesn't leave much space between  the bolt and the butt to do much profiling of the butt-riser junction. It think in the next ones I build I may go to a two pin per limb set-up and move the bolt towards the limb tip an inch to get more room to pretty it up. Steelhead I intentionally left the belly side of the limb butts meaty to add more mass. The limbs have actionboo cores and .030 carbon  lams belly and back to keep them light and I wanted some mass in the riser to absorb shock and quiet the bow. I like fairly low wrist grips and the risers are only 1.5" at the widest points so there wasnt much choice in in where to leave the mass. I will say I shoot these bows better than than any LB I have ever shot. I think it has to do with their added mass. Their one pc cousin (from same form) is blistering fast but weighs only about 22 ounces and I cant shoot them as well. Phil the accent stripes are .040 black glass with .020 maple on either side. Thanks for all your advice and kind words.

Dean,
They are both 62" NTN. The dark colored one is 50#@28 and the lighter one is 55#@28. They are both cut 1/8 past center and i'm impressed with their ability to shoot well with a variety of different spines and weights of shafts. I shot the 50# one through a chrono at an archery shop and it shot 171fps with my 28" draw and a 565 grain arrow. I think that is pretty good for 11+gpp.Can't attest to the accuracy of the chrono. Anyway I probably will keep the dark one since it was my first but if you are really curious pm me and we'll see about getting you one started. I need to build more so I can improve my process.

Very cool!! Those skins and the finger grooves really set the bows apart. Very cool side profile also. I'll bet it's as nice to look at as it is to shoot. You've got quite a talent there! Thanks for sharing it with us       Cheers, Matt
