lube for wood 3D arrows?
« on: July 22, 2010, 02:17:00 PM »
Is there a wax or something else that can be applied to wood arrows to make their removal from 3D targets easier? I'm very new to 3D and my arrows are hard to get out of the targets. In another thread, they were talking about the water-based poly sticking. That's what I use now, but am about ready to get something else. Thanks.

Rub about 4-6 inches of the tip of the arrow with bar soap each time before you shoot a target and wood arrows will remove easily. We here in West Texas have done this for years. The free bar soap you get in hotels works great.

I use food grade silicone, can get it at hardware stores or on line no smell and dries fast and last for months.

I use the little hotel bars of soap--works on aluminum and carbon also.

I keep a small canister of spray silicon in the truck. I give the arrows a quick spray and off I go. Lasts a couple of rounds and is no fuss no muss.

For a better grip, cut a 4" long section from a bike inner tube or motorcycle tube which is heavier, no need to cut in half. Just hold it in the palm of your had and grab the arrow, no slip, no problem.
