The Ugly truth about Traditional Bowhunting...
« on: May 11, 2007, 08:36:00 PM »
...is that there are loads of people who prowl the dark corners of the internet to find others who share their unusual passion.

They plot and plan ways to meet in out of the way places...say like the swamps and pine forests of South Carolina

That's not the worst part.....

They obsess about their equipment, get very little sleep and sneek around trying to kill tasty animals. They're not always successful but seem to enjoy themselves....

There are always animals and plants that are new to them, especially if they're from the west and have never seen a fox squirrel, for example...

Sometimes they do get lucky...

...and sometimes they could use a little more luck

Do I hear "Dueling Banjos" in the background???
So don't wait until you retire to go hunting and fishing.  Don't even wait for your annual vacation.  Go at every opportunity.  Things that appear urgent at the moment may, in the long run, turn out to be far less so.

That swamp looks scary! But can you think what is going through the minds of the critters when they see this crew moving through their woods??? They say ,it don't take much to amuse a stick shooter. Guess that's why we do it.

I guess I should be thankful they didn't get a good look at me before they came, or they might not have shown up, know what I mean???

Iron Bull, no one cooked this trip. We took a direct hit on the top of the camp house, so the ceilings were all messed up. We opted to eat out so it was just run of the mill stuff I'm sorry to say!

We made up for it with fun and laughs, though. And got to listen to stories of a jaguar hunt with a recurve in the Mato Grosso de sul, of Brazil, which was very cool, and drank Amarulo, a fruit-based liqueur made from what elephants love to get drunk off of when they ripen and ferment on the tree.
