couple of dead deer

Was looking around on a short 100 degree scouting trip / getinshapefatboywalk and found what could turn into a couple of dead deer come early Sept.RC

That is a big Persimmon tree and mostly certain a must hunt area this year.

Weve got several persimmons trees on our land but we love to eat them as much as the deer do . Persimmions make a awesome stand site and good cover sent if you eat a few and rub  a few on the bottom of you boot going to the stand  . Killed many a deer and ate  many a persimmon pudding hanging out at persimmon trees .

I was that lucky for a couple of years, befor the property got sold. Bet those trees are big now  (I think I'm gonna cry   ;) )

I have about 20 persimon trees on my 80 acres. Weird thing though: here in IL because of the abundance of food they rarely get to them. Racoons,'Possums, coyotes, and my lab gobble 'em up like packman though.

In TN where I grew up it was a goldmine to find those things. I killed my first bow deer near one. About eating them: too many and you won't amke it out of your stand before REALLY having some cover scent to deal with     :scared:

They are actually about the first food to frop here in the swamp in sept along with the grapes. Unless you have access to some sawtooth oaks.RC

Kinda the same but twice as bad. This time of year they are awful.Minature horsefly with twice the bite.RC

Some places they call they Deer Flies and/or Sweat Flies.. I hate the way they "boink" you on the back of the head two or three times befor they chomp on you, somewhere. It does sometimes give you the chance to swat them befor they bite though - which does hurt like hades.
