Hunting With A clicker
«

I've read on here where the guys mentioned putting tape over their clicker to hunt. My question is; where do you put the tape? Over the entire clicker, just on the blade it's self? Could somebody clear this up for me?

I wrap it around the blade.

I use the soft velcro on the blade itself and works very well, I actually "feel" the clicker more then hear it when I shoot! Also get rid of the chain and just use cord thru it as well, makes it much quieter when shooting. 200# or 350# Spectra bowfishing line works great!

I hunted with a clicker all season and was worried about noise. I experimented a few times pulling/clicking on does from a tree stand and did not get a single reaction.
They were all deaf or could care less about that "click" coming from up in a tree.
My buddy put moleskin around the blade.

soft velcro on the blade and base...hunted with one for 6 years. animals dont pay any attention to it....but get rid of the chain that it comes with and just use release rope material instead.

I've used electrical tape, mole skin, and just about everything else under the sun...
Finally tried the soft velcro and have found what I was looking for... just a bump that's felt more in the bow and string...
Really no audible click to me anymore...
Always bothered me more than the critters ;-)

I used a clicker to hunt an entire year. I silenced it with adhesive fleece and the slight "click" didn't make any difference to my success.
A clicker is a great tool if it is necessary.
I prefer not having one on my bow though, so if my form wants to misbehave, I warn myself that if I don't smarten up I will put the clicker back on! That usually does it.

Give a try with just a little tape on the blade to silence the clicker just a hint. It shouldn't spook em but only they know. Hasn't hurt me yet. I also replace the chain with thick cord but Jason goes into better detail in his last article with TBM. Oh ya, very good job on that, Jason. I've loved that little clicker since you showed me how to use it last year.

I took one to Africa. Taped all surfaces. Found out it didn't click when it was cold. I could keep my thumb on it and make it work.
An impala makes a whitetail look like he's drugged and about to fall asleep. A slight exaggeration, but you get the point. When they were at waterholes I clicked it at 15 ot 20 yds. No response.
