woody arrow spine?
« on: July 31, 2010, 02:34:00 PM »
Just picked up a new to me 70's Kodiak Magnum.  It is 48# @28 and shoots full length 1916 w/ 145s like rockets.  What spine weight for woodies should I go with?
Thanks- Darb

i would say 50-55. depends on strike plate/rest, string material, length of arrow and point weight you want to use though.

alot of variables to just guess.

50-55 or 55-60 I would guess.

Thanks guys,
String is not FF and it is a leather plate and Bearhair rest.  I will probably be shooting 130-145 for tip depending on BH.
As sad as it is to admit, my past experience making poplar arrows for my LB I always built the arrow around my Broadhead set up.  I don't even know the true length around 29-29.5, I guess. I would just start from the full shaft until I got the right length to where the flew like darts.

That's what I do.. Full length and shoot them at 10 yards, then move out to 25 yards and cut if needed.
