Some type of light would go a long way towards peace of mine.  Many years ago I bicycled into what was then known as Pungo National Wildlife refuge (AKA deer, snake, mosquito heaven) The canal roads were closed with cable and bicycles or foot were the only way to get back into the swamp "honey holes". I saw eastern diamondbacks crossing those roads in the daytime that would make you want to cry for mama.  Pygmies were more common, but when I heard a buzz I never stuck around for a positive ID. I had no light but every time a ran over a stick I threw both legs up in the air for good measure!
