Hey Gents and Ladies,

With all the custom bows always posted up, I'm just curious who is planning to take a Damon Howatt bow into the woods this year?  Post your pics if you want to!

They are great shooting and good loqking bows. I've been kind of looking for an older Hunter for myself. Something in the mid 50# range would be perfect.
Hey!  You've got just what I want!  Is it for sale?  LOL

I have no doubt that my 55# Dreamcatcher will see some time afield this year.  Heck, it just may join me for a scouting / stumpin trip after work tonight.

I didn't draw out for bow hunting, but got a permit for muleys during the rifle season. I'll likely take my Martin Hunter and try to stay as far from the lead chunkers as I can! 50@28

I gave away a Damon-Howatt Hunter a couple of years ago to a Coast Guard fellow. 80@28  :scared:

Whip reduced my 1976 58" hunter from 55@28 to 51@28" so I will make a few hunts with it this year but it is so pretty hate to scratch it.You read right it is a 58" made for 5 years.

I'm currently refinishing a Howatt Hi-Speed, 54" and 55@28. I plan on taking her for a few walks in the woods this fall. I'll get pics when she's done. You guys have some beautiful Howatts.

My only bow is a Martin Hunter 55# @ 28' Great northern quiver, Carbon Express arrows, 145 gr. Bear razorheads. So whatever I hunt (mostly deer) this is my setup.

That's a good set up Big John. I'll be taking my Savannah with a 4 arrow Eagle's Flight Quiver, 3 custom Chundoo woodies tipped with VPA 190's and 1 Easton ACC with a small game head of some kind.  Once I get my arrows in, I am going to post a pic of the set up... I'll be after whitetails and turkeys.  And I'm bringing my camera for the new comers to my part of the state: black bear!

The Howatt Hunter was my very first traditional bow. I don't take it hunting in the fall any more but it is the only bow I use for bowfishing.

My first bow was a martin/Howatt x200  #45@28.

Tuned some arrows up for it the othere day. It just might see some field time in the late season given the low draw.

My Hunter(1990)is 60lbs and will be with me this fall during hunting season.  I also have a Dream Catcher, but my Hunter always wins out to go hunting. Just a quiet smooth shooting bow. Best $100 I've ever spent for a new bow.

I am hunting elk and mule deer with my Damon Howatt Hunter this year since it seems I am the only guy in the world that can't shoot a Mohawk very well. I had originally planned to \\use that but just can't seem to bond with it.

The Howatt is 60# @ 30" and has the curved accent stripe. I cut down the quite tall original shelf to bring it closer to the knuckle and man is it a sweet shooting bow! Very smooth and quick.

My favorite thing about both my Hunters is they only add 2.5 lbs an inch after 28.  The other one is also 60# @ 30, but a 1979 model. Its marked 52#, but actually scales 55# @ 28.

My brother will be shooting his #55 Martin Hunter. That is such a fast and sweet shooting bow I can't believe more people don't use them.

I hunted with a Martin DH Hunter 65# @28" using Easton 2317's and 145gr Bear Razorheads from a QuickiQuiver from 1991 until 2001. In 2001 my shoulder went up on me, so I bought a Martin DH Hunter 55# @28" shooting 2315's with the same Bear Razorheads and QuickiQuiver.I carried it right through to last deer season.I still had the 65#, which I especially liked for its high wrist.

I loved both -- great shooting bows with no stack and a delight to carry in the woods. I say 'loved', because alas, they are both gone now. Some kind-hearted soul thought they needed them more than me, and so kindly removed them from my locked shop earlier this spring. They also decided they could make better use than me of two fairly new Stihl chainsaws while they were at it. I am so thankful they thought highly enough of me that they were so stealthy they did not want to disturb my sleep either...

However, I decided on my own I actually DID need a bow, and BigJohn from this site was kind enough to sell me his whole rig. It should be here in a few days. The local deer will once again be threatened by Dave and his Martin bow.

I've got my Dad's old 72 Damon Howatt Hunter 50@28. Got a flemish string from Bearbowman, beaver silencers, and bow hush. Shooting "old style" Easton x7's cut to 28" with 125gr Magnus Stinger's. And the best part about it is I found it in a closet after I bought my Dad's house from him! He says my Mom was not happy when he brought it home right after I was born...
