Is this a true Bear Take-down?

I found this bow forsale locally and the seller says it is a Bear take-down and although I can see Bear on the limbs I am not sure what I'm looking at. Any help would be appreciated! The guy selling it doesn't know much about it.

This is a good serviceable bow, not the one normally referred to on here as a T/D, doesnt have the latch system or type of limb. Should make a good bow, if the price is right.

I think that is a Take down Hunter, maybe from the 80's . But I'm no expert.

Thats a little high, I see them regularly go for $200-250, great conditon.

Bear Hunter as others have said and $175 on very good day for that bow.

It's a mid '80s Take Down Hunter.Not a bad bow, but there again not a brilliant one either. $250 would be top price for a perfect example. I've seen them on here, in showroom condition for that price. I've also seen a couple in pawn shops in tidy-but-not-perfect condition for under 100

$175.00 is generous. If you're looking for a Bear Takedown, pass this thing up. The real Bear T/D's are great bows. Worth the money, and always will be.

Other then the Bear bows with the slide in limbs, I have never seen a Bear TD wood handle without the limb latch take down system or some kind of radius stripe running vertically through the riser??

I had one of those arround 1996,I bought it used,it was called a BearHunter.. sold it and bought a Fred Bear TD in 1997..the Bear Hunter TD was ok but did not compare to the Fred Bear TD with latches and ok for fastflite string. you can not get new limbs for the BearHunter..

The Bear Hunter Takedown was a mid '80's bow that came out when Bear began to focus on them new fangled compound contraptions.

It was cheap to make and sold low.  Their new main market was the compound market.  This was the period when the first nail was hammered into the Bear Archery Company's coffin.

It was an OK bow and better than the Minuteman,, '76'er, and the rest of the slide in takedowns.  It is an OK shooter but nothing to write home to Mama about.

Later, when Bear reintroduced the Custom Takedown in the form of the "Green Stripe" risers, these went the way of the Dodo bird.

As far as what it's worth...that depends on what it's worth to you.  It is not worth $100 to me, but then that's just me.  If you like the bow, just figure out how much you like it.  Keep in mind that while it is not a "rare collector's item", they did not have a short production run so it may be a while before you see another one.

That was my first recurve.  I bought it from Cabela's mail order in November 1991...and if I remember right, $149.99.  

Still have it, but gosh does it sure shoot slow!

Well I really appreciate all the input...And I found a much better deal on another bow. I knew the latch model/wood riser take-downs were special but when I saw the bolt on limbs on a Bear it threw me off a little bit.

I sold several of these used, most I ever got was $150, most went for about $125.
