anyone else buying things out of control ?
« on: August 08, 2010, 07:26:00 PM »
The season is still weeks away - and I am ready to defend Sherwood forest.

Anyone else buying arrows; broadheads; trail cams; pack saddles ( whew ) and other hunting stuff to excess?
THE VOICES HAVEN'T BOTHERED ME SINCE I STARTED POKING THEM WITH A Q-TIP.

Sure, I think it hits us all this time of year.  Getting ready and re-outfitting for the up coming year is half the fun!!

No, but the only thing stopping me is a trip to an amusement park and a trip to take a ride on Thomas the Train with my 4 year old.  Don't have the money for both and I'm not exactly starving for hunting gear.

guilty as charged...just bought another dozen arrow shafts and wraps!
TGMM-Family of the Bow

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Yep, every trip to the store or Wally world finds me buying a few batteries for lights, thermacell refills, canned foods and anything else for camp.
I just ordered new bowstrings from Black Widow, and feathers to fletch a half dozen Easton Axis 500 shafts, and a dozen 2016's.  I love the pre-season!!
If I sharpen my broadheads or knives any more I won't have any steel left!!
Oh yeah, propane, I buy lots of propane!!
Our local grocery store has Chef boyardee spaghetti, ravioli, beefaroni, 10 for 10 dollars..I have to stock up!!!
Lots of canned beef stew......gosh I have to go shopping tomorrow!!!! DOH!

Got a brand new 3D buck standing in my office which I haven't bothered to take outside. Still shooting the 3D turkeys I put out prior to Spring Gobbler.
Have bought enough shafts, feathers, nocks, BH's, and field points to supply a small army, and haven't had time to build one arrow in the last 2 months. And I still have 500 cane shafts going to be delivered this coming week!

Need to twist up strings for 3 of my bows, 2 for my Grandson, 2 for my son, and 4 for friends. Promised they would all be ready by next Friday. Guess I'll do 3 or 4 tonight.

If I had time to build all that I buy, I could open an on-line shop. But I don't. And somehow this doesn't stop me from buying more.   :D

And to top it all off. Even with no time to build the arrows I have materials for. I'm having friends request I start building bows again.   :saywhat:

Have enjoyed buying bows the last few years, and am in the market for 1 or 2 for each Grandson at present. But since I still have all my old forms, hoses, and compressor, Think I may just try to find the time to go back to building them again. Never know it may mean more to the grandsons if I make them rather than buy?

Just need the time! Would also make the wife happy if I would start moving some of my stockpile!   :dunno:
