How do you take something this beautiful to the woods?
« on: August 09, 2010, 12:58:00 PM »
I just got my new-to-me John McCullough Griffin 60" 42@28. The pictures I looked at before it came to me didn't do it justice. Nor do the pictures that I've taken of it this morning.

The answer to my question is coming but I can only show a set number per post..more to follow!

My 1st arrows out of it.

The results of the 1st ones at 20 yards.

After those I decided.........a set of pull-on snakes skinz would protect the bow well enough..lol

Thanks for looking!
God bless,mudd

Mudd, IMO if a bow is too pretty to take in the woods it is too pretty to own! d;^)
Nice looking bow and it appears you shoot it well.

With those groups it looks like you better take that bow in the woods with you, period.

Congratulations Mudd!
Beautiful bow and probably my favorite of the type!I have a couple of lookers whose looks have only improved with "hunting scars" in my opinion!  :)

I'd take it to the woods in my left hand...   :saywhat:

Mudd,

First....put some long pants on and a shirt with longer sleeves.......don't want any chiggers to decided your flesh looks tempting.

Second....grab that bow with your right hand.

Third....don't forget your arrows.

Fourth....point your body towards the woods and keep walking until you find a good spot.

If you stop at a good MO spot for hunting, you have succeeded.......you've taken that great lookin' bow to the woods for some hunting.  Try not to put any scratches on it or you'll send me hate mail for suggesting it!

Now go shoot somethin'!    :archer:

Easy......take that beautiful bow to the woods scratch it up ding it up as it proves it's worth and if it does... get it refinished and start over.  Please don't fall in the category of those who buy new trucks, guns, bows and are afraid of scratching them in the woods. LOL at them!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways-BOW in one hand-ARROWS in the other-Body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming-WOO HOO! WHAT A RIDE!

I've never had the thought of not taking one to the woods cross my mind before.

If I continue to shoot it as well as that 1st quiver full then no doubt, it'll have to go with me to the woods. With snake skinz on of course!..lol

Thanks for the kind comments and advice.

God bless,Mudd

PS: I don't have the kind of money that will allow for designated bows...lol

That is a good looking bow. I do think it might look better with a decent-sized scratch on the riser from falling and hitting a rock while helping drag somebody else's deer out.... just sayin'

A beautiful bow like that was made to hunt. To leave it home would be heartless and render the bow to a life without fulfilling its intended use. Scratches and dings from hunting will only give it character and not detract from its beauty at all.

Roy,
That bow is too pretty for you to take into the woods. Pack it up & send it to me. I'll take it out & train it to be kinda ugly. Then I'll send it back. That's what friends are for.
God Bless

Mudd,I can't think of any bow being prettier than the woods,THE place for Archers and Bows.It was ment to be.Your just taking it to where it really belongs.

That is a beauty for sure,  but it appears to be shooting just little to the right...   :D      :knothead:

I have owned a griffin before and it was as a good a shooter as it was a looker.  Good for you Mudd!!
