Oh, my... this has been what the Doctor ordered...  :scared:    :banghead:

Fried it's kinda good. Collards smothered in some kinda grease only made it down my gullet once...then water beaded up in my mouth for a week! I'll pass on the "biled" okre and grease smothered collards... but not much else I don't like.

Been some genetic abnormally made me love Grits first time they met my mouth... never tried to cook em up from scratch, though...gotta try that!

Been a good thread... but danged its only 9am and now I'm starvin!!
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

First thing this mornin right after I got the coffee goin I started breakfast. Got a pan full of bacon sizzling , then I chopped up some onion and mixed it in with the chopped up potatoes that were left over from supper last night and tossed em in a pan with bacon grease. Eggs over easy, fried grits left from yesterday and biscuits. Man I feel like I could hunt all day and not come in till supper..   :archer:

Thumperdunker,
I've known Mudd for many a year & I can tell in all honesty that he is a fine friend. Would give you the shirt off his back & his last dip of snuff. But, normal he ain't! Far from it. I think that's one reason such a good friend. He also likes pickled pigs feet& ears. Plus he likes mackerel patties in his oatmeal with honey. No Sir. Normal he ain't.
God Bless

Yup.

Mix museli, Spec.K & yoghurt in a 4:3:1 mix & it'll make the ideal filler for upto a 3" hole, unsupported. Perfect for damaged drywall, potholes in the road or driveway, pond/pool liner & for re-pointing brick walls.
All in all, it's actually very versatile!

Oh Ron.
That was all going so well until you mentiond the grits.
Only problem I honestly find with a manly, manly breakfast, is that after a half hour in the stand on a cold morning, just as the warming rays of the sun breaches the treetops, the full tummy starts to have a soporific effect & I fall asleep!
I may need to get a less comfortable stand, that Summit Titan is like a tree-mounted lounger! I think I spent more time sleeping in it than I di awake!

Rob, use that mix with equal parts of grits and it works like epoxy.

DADGUM SIR!!!
I think you may be onto something.
Who should we market to first? The D.O.D or NASA?
I know NASA had problems with losing ceramic tiles from the nose of it's shuttles, upon re-entry, but I think the DOD could use the mix to support & adhere re-active tank armour.

I had a few paddies of the fried grits left over from breakfast that I put in the fridge. Now mind you it's been 4 hours since breakfast so I'm not really hungry yet but I just polished off the grits paddies....COLD, with a sprinkling of sea salt.

There ain't a thing wrong with cold grits...in fact they're mighty good cold. Anyone that don't think so better have their taster checked.    :readit:

Ron, does this mean I don't have to cook you an omlette in camp this year (or Greg doesn't have to make the heart attack special - biscuts with sausage gravy and a side of over easy eggs)?????

Hmmm, the next thing you're going to tell me is you want a lime in your beer?  :p    :p

Grits and some of those Pig oysters should fill you stomach.
And after you eat that mackerel and oatmeal how long does it take before you clear out the hunting camp when it exits your belly.Or is that considered bear repellent?...LOL

Oatmeal has been working fine, if got into this much grease and salt at breakfest each morning they would bury me before I turned 60. Good thread!

If I want to clear out a camp it's my fried/scorched cabbage with onions I turn to or maybe sweet taters...lol

Spent some time and read through the entire thread very entertaining and informative

I will not bad mouth grits they will work as long as there is bacon and eggs and biscuits involved.

I draw the line at OKRA, honest to God OKRA?
What is worse than OKRA; is suggesting OKRA is a breakfast food.

If you don't like grits you obviously have never had someone prepare them right. They go great with just about anything I can think of.
Okra for breakfast? Sounds great if it's fried!
Would be right up there with Fried catfish for breakfast.
But then I was raised in the South. Yankee by birth, Southern by the grace of God!

I've had grits twice in my life-the first and last time.  Honestly I don't know how they can even be compared with a spud.  Grits look and feel like they've already been mouthed over and maybe even partially digested by someone.  I suppose if you dump enough condiments over them a person could get 'em down but it's a stretch of my imagination.  A potato on the other hand can be eaten in almost any form and taste reletively good. Extra fixins' on top of them just add another dimension to their taste.  But that's just my opinion.  I must live closer to Canada than most of you.

Best Swamper breakfast you can have is a bowl of hot grits with some cheese melted in them with a couple catfich fillets fried up in olive oil on the side. The grits gotta have a touch of ground up swamp rooter sausage in as well. The icing on the cake is having this meal on the River Bank at the crack of an early spring dawn with Gobblers telling you to hurry up times a wasting.RC
