You definitely drew a good area. I will be hunting several miles south of you; good luck to both of us!

Joe, great pics my friend! Looks like you have a plan and some great country to get into. I will be in the Laramie peaks area in 20 days but my 4 points wasn't enough to draw unit 7, so it's cow elk hunt/scout for next year and mulies...there are always mulies  :)  GOOD LUCK JOE!

groyce, no, I didn't know about the medicine wheel.  Sure wish I had - I just googled it and that would definately have been on my list.  I was right in that area the whole week.  Will try to get up there next month.  Thanks for the tip!

I'm counting on ya Marty!  It's going to be a quick turn around here this week, but I can't wait to get down there!  Talk about a shock to my system though.  I think our daily high temperature last week in WY was in the upper 60's with no humidity.  I'm guessing I'm gonna have a melt down at your place

That is great Whip. Neat pictures. Someday I'm going to leave the big cities in Colorado for the prairies in Wyoming.

I'm going to be a mile from your house on opening day elk this year...weddings. If you hear a bugle  you'll know who it was. GOOD LUCK!

Its hard to describe mountain maggots to people- that picture does it really well !  If anyone thinks there is anything left to eat after they have been there- well you have to see it to believe it.

The entire forest service has a new forest travel plan. Its in effect - its just not been announced well. There are problems with it already; but you could see less atvs in that area.

Anyone that is hunting the National Forest in any state - should get a hold of them and get a forest service travel plan for the area they will be in.

It might take a few years for people to understand and comply - but maybe we will see less ATV use these coming years.
 A big YES !! for that !!!

Great photos and thanks for the story  :)

Whip, Thanks for sharing. Pics were absolutely awesome.

As I read your 1st portion to my wife and daughter they said "that sounds like something you would do Dad." So I guess no selling a scouting trip as a "romantic getaway" for me anytime soon.

Hoping for nothing but much success for you on your trip! Keep us posted.

So maybe the reason I didn't draw that tag is that the Bighorns are partial to a Wisconsin accent.  Note to Southerners with max points for next year!

Those are great Whip.  Get a big one!
