And I don't mean girl scouts !

Went out yesterday for the first time this fall for black bears, didn't see any but took a pic of this guy in one of the berry patches.  Lots of brown bears around here but haven't seen any in this spot before.  You need a draw tag around here and I don't have one, but in a couple weeks I'm going after grizzlies in an open area.

Good Luck!  My AK hunts were cancelled this year because of my brother's schedule in the Army.  Best of Luck to you!

Alaska is my dream trip--if I don't go soon I may never make it since I'll be turning 67 this October   .

Headed your way on the 27th for Black Bear. Hunting between Bear and Russian Mts. Are the Blueberries in bloom yet?

What Lin Rhea said,'cept take a short fat guy to carry your backpack just in case 'ole Griz is real hungry.  That way, at least you will come home.  Couldn't say much for the short fat guy, though.

Seriously, have a great season and best of luck.

For some reason that looks like a berry patch I used to frequent.  Any chance it's on the aptly named Bear Mountain?

Hey thanks for all the encouragement guys.

Akdan- I'm in Soldotna.

And thanks Lin, the knife you made is my regular carry now, proud to wear it.

Wile- blueberries are definitely ripe, but locally they are more patchy than usual.

Eids- nope, not Bear mountain.
