The price on that Little Bear wasn't bad and you'll do well to find one under $75.  They are great bows.  I've seen other brands at the big shoots sell for $40-80. I bought a used longbow for my 5 year old grandson from a friend off of his trade blanket for $40 which was a good buy and I have a Little Bear for the older ones.

There are good deals out there so be patient.  Something good will show up.

Im with get stoned.  

My boys have black rhinos, but in their hearts and mine the hickory staves I whittled out and backed for them are the ones that are always pulled out.  

They love em, and they gave me more confidence in building one for myself.  ITs hard to mess up a hickory bow at 15 to 20#s!

Wow!  This is one reason this forum is awesome.  A guy I've never met or seen has made a bow for a kid he doesn't know or ever seen.

tc ...Boones Osage selfbow (55' long) is done.. It turned out 18# @ 16" draw... Elk hide handle wrap...Enjoy little Guy !!!

I just bought my girl a lil newt by Sarrels archery. It was $175 which is a little more than you specified but it is a very nice bow.

Beautiful!  I love it, and I know he will too.  This is true generosity exemplified and I'm very grateful for your time and effort.  It's much nicer than I expected too - nice work, Jeff!

My 8 yr old grandson and I got a 1 X 2 oak board from lumber yd. I am folowing the instruction for board bow from other web sites.  My grandson and I are having fun shaping the wood.  Work still in progress, looks like it is going to take 3 evenings using hand tooks to shape and till.  Of course it is too slow for him.  Looking for a 20 to 25 lbs pull bow.  But he is also learning to use handtools.

Boone's bow came and he was a very excited little boy when he saw the package that had come for him.  He had no idea what was coming.

 
 

He's really into the bow, (and maybe just as much into the tiny arrow that Jeff sent with it) and wanted to go shooting with it that evening.  We went to my new hunting spot and he was impressed with how much further he could now shoot.  He even asked to get into one of the lower stands and shoot out of it.  That was his highlite of the trip.

 

Jeff, the bow is a beauty and is so much cooler than what I intended to get him.  Thanks once again for your unexpected generous act.  He said he thinks he might shoot a turkey with it one day!
