fletch tape redo
«
on:
August 16, 2010, 10:40:00 PM »
I tried fletch tape 2 years ago and had a hard time working with the stuff. I ended up giving away my roll of tape to someone here on TG.
I went to Gander Mt to pick up another roll to give it one more try. They use to carry it but not anymore. Any chance of getting enough tape from a fellow TG'r to try on a couple of arrows before ordering a whole roll?

Duane, PM sent I have a tiny roll left that you might get a dozen out of.

I love the stuff. I like how as soon as you press it on, you are able to do the next feather. No waiting for the glue to dry.

Because I'm in Texas and the heat can make the tape get loose I also wrap the fletching with sinew to hold it in place.

yellow dog is hooking me up with some to try again.
I tried it before when I 1st started and must not have applied it correctly so I sent almost a whole roll to another member.

I had trouble at first but started putting my clamped up feather in a little vice so I could use both hands to work the tape. After the tape was on the feather and the skin pulled off you remove the clamp from the vice and stick it in you jig. It works good for me.

Don't forget to put a drop of glue on each end of the quill. It makes them last great.
