While playing golf at a local course recently, I was able to observe a gray fox in the edge of the woods trying to stalk and catch a squirral, he was unsuccessful ( I know how he felt!). Anyway with no one behind me I tried to see how close I could get to him. I got to within about 50 yards and he started moving away from me. I remembered, I think, seeing Fred Eichler attempt to call javalinas with his mouth by putting your hand to your mouth and sucking the air back between your lips. So with no other options I tried it. It worked. He came back to within 15 yards and held up there for about 10 minutes. By this time I had a group playing up behind me and had to go. When I got back to the cart and looked down the hill the fox was standing right where I had been. Just curious if anybody has done this successfully and had close encounters like I experianced.
