Talking with another TG'r today....left us both with some ideas and questions.
Anybody have recommendations on where to buy some affordable furs?
We know the work that goes into bringing a pelt to market; not trying to beat anyone out of fair profit; just asking.
Things like leggings, hand muffs, maybe a shoulder wrap are what we were talking about.

Tell ya what i did. Bought a coon and fox fur from local trapper. Paided 8.00 for a huge coon and 10.00 for a beautiful red fox. Got a bear skin from a friend who was going to throw it. Took them to local taxidermist and he sent in with his furs to a tannery. Cost 20.00 dollars for the small animals and 250.00 for the bear rug to get professional tanned.

Its really not that hard to skin and prepare fur yourslef or as stated above buy a str3etched and dried fur from a local trapper and ship to a place like in the link below. They've done some fur for me and ive been real happy with the results. They actually dont even require you to stretch and dry the fur salt dried is good enough

If buying green (untanned furs) from a local trapper make sure you check your state reg's. Some states require a fur buyers permit.

Like some of the other replier's recommendations.......it's really hard to beat Moscow Hide and Fur, unless you get the pelt yourself and have it tanned.
I bought an otter pelt from them for a quiver that Mike was making for me. Easy folks to deal with.
