Wood hunting arrows

I want to buy or build some woodies.I would like them to weigh about 650-700 grains anyone know what I would need to do.The bow I shoot is 65# selfbow I also need to know what spine do I need if I have to add 200-300 grains up front.Thanks

Most self bows will require approx 'bow weight' for arrow stiffness for 28 in shaft; add 5# per inch over; add 5# per 25 gns over 125
add 5#-10# for non B50 string.
This will get you close enough to bareshaft.

How long an arrow do you want to shoot?  As Bjorn said, spine to match bow weight will get you started altho many selfbow arrows will spine a bit lower.  Much depends on handle design and the bow itself.  You should be able to get that kind of weight with fir or ramin, and 700 gr or more with laminated birch.

250 gr is the heaviest glue on BH that I know of, but there are several good ones in the 190-200+ range.  The heavy broadhead will increase how much spine you'll need.  Do you have any arrow making tools?  Feel free to call.

My ash arrows are sitting from 765 to 795grn total weight. They are 30.5"BOP with 160grn point. I got my shafts from Raptor Archery

My Hill bows tend to like arrows at the stated bow weight. Both of my 65# Wesly's like 65 - 70's at 29 inch length and 145 grain points. But I don't quite draw 28", either. My 55# Cheetah likes 55-60 spine arrows. I shoot cedar. My other 2 Hill bows like them spined just slightly more than stated bow weight. Most of my other bows seem to follow along pretty closely with Bjorn's generalization stated above.

I shoot some 70# Surewoods out of a 45#@29" Hill. I draw it to almost 31" and use a full length arrow.  With a 145 grain head, they weigh 675 grains. They're pretty tough, too.
