Georgia Pig Hunters?

A few questions for you Gawgia swine experts if I may?
Have a friend who will soon be posted to Fort Benning and we are trying to get a pig hunt together. I have virtually no experience with pig hunting. Any good recommendations on where to start with gathering info for "Trad Hunting Pigs for Dummies?

I didnt know if hunting in Jan-Feb was decent as I would like to go down after our deer is over here in Ohio.  I am not looking for a trophy, any little pig will do- so what are the odds of sucess for a do-it yourself pig hunt in the Columbus area?
My buddy says we can hunt on/near base and that the guys say pigs are plentiful, but didnt know if there was other worthwhile public hunting in that area.

Also I am currently shooting a #48 Kodiak Mag poplar shafts and a 150 griz up front.  Is this enough bow for pigs in the area?

I'm not an expert, but stayed in a Holiday Inn Express once!  

You should buy a permit to hunt the Fort property.  I hear it's loaded with pigs.  If you stay away from the largest boars, your current equipment will be fine.  Find fresh feed sign and still hunt into the wind until you find them.

Lots of pigs on Benning and unless there has been a recent change you can hunt them with Archery equipment year round.

Thanks guys for the advice.  How about public land if for some reason the base option doesn't come through?
And what are the chances of sucess for a dumb northern boy hunting an area blind like this?
Are they like deer in the southern part of our state- find some high oak ridges and put in a hard day or two of scouting and you should be on a fairly high percentage area?

The Traditional Bowhunters of Ga usually have a deer/hog hunt the 1st or 2nd weekend in January at Chickasawhatchee WMA. You guys would be more than welcome to share in the fun. It is almost 20,000 acres so there is plenty of room.  They have a pretty good population of pigs.  Getting on them is the trick.  There are also some pretty good areas further south.  i'm not as familiar with the north georgia areas.  Terry and a few of the other north Ga  guys hunt there regularly with success,  Maybe some of the other guys will see this and jump in.
