Who makes the best feathers

Looking to start splicing my own arrows, currently I have a few hundred feathers laying around of green, yellow, orange, and red, but I want to add to what I have.

Who makes the best feathers right now?  The main options I see are AMG, Gateway, and Truflight.

Also where does everyone buy there feathers?

Also I do have some natural turkey feathers, only about 10 of them thought, talking to all of my fellow turkey hunters and encouraging them to save both wings for me.

You'll find advocates for all three of those manufacturers.
The main differences are colors, price, and the way the bases are ground.
Personally, I use all three but many arrow makers have specific preferences. I don't splice feathers so I'm afraid I can't recommend any particularly for that application.

lately i have been disappointed with tru-flight feathers.i order full lenght feathers and they have been very thin.i would look to a different company.gateway haven't been that great either.i haven't tried amg,they may be better.good luck,steve

It just comes down to personal preference. I like the durability of Gateway feathers.

When splicing to natural turkey feathers, you will need a feather that is rather course to match the courseness of the natural turkey feather.  Of late, Tru-flite has been rather thin and pretty short for full length.

Funny you should ask!
I just finished fletching a dozen 2016s for the first time with Gateway feathers.  I liked them fine. I have always used Tru-Flights, but the local shop had the Gateways in the color I wanted.
I could tell a slight difference in the two but it is hard to explain, I guess the Gateways seem a little more "stiff" and like Night Wing said, maybe a little more durable?
I also liked the grind of the Gateways.
I'll shoot them tomorrow and see if there is any difference, I doubt there will be.
As to the splicing...beyond my meager abilities right now, sorry!
But, I would think the Tru-Flights would be a better choice for splicing, they seem a little more "limber" or "soft"..maybe just my imagination, or the quill is a little thinner and softer on the Tru-Flights.  The Tru-Flights seem a little more limber to fit into my bitzenberger clamp.

That stiffness that sendero refers to comes from a good high oil line on the feather. The fibers themselves will appear to be thicker than one without. Durability and water repellancy both are
results of a good, high,oil line

I have used both Gateway and Truflight and prefer the latter of the two.

I have used both Gateway and Trueflight, and I prefer the Trueflights.  I especially like the barred and Bright Stripe selections that Trueflight offers.  My only issue has been finding the ones I need when I need them.  It's good to see 3Rivers, Kustom King, et al offering more choices.

It seems like everyone is choosing either True-flight or Gateway. I am happy with AMG's. anyone else use and like these?

I Like truflight, but the amg' I have used have been food so far too. Gateway fearhers aren't ground enough and the quill is more likely to cause issues hupon release.

my vote is truflight. Just compare the gateway want to be barred feathers and the real truflight barred feathers....no comparison...at least to me.
