A hot saturday afternoon....
« on: August 22, 2010, 03:28:00 PM »
Well my 10 year old son, Alex and I spent the morning in the shop of Mike Baker aka Bodork on here. Mike is building me a bow from Kenny M's new form and we journeyed down to Mike's to help...We had fun and then came home around noon and Alex announced that he was going to build some arrows (he never has).  So he found some extra GT3555's I had stored in a corner and he picked through some feathers and wraps and figured out what he wanted....and then approached me and said, "Ok Dad, I want to make my own arrows"
So I gave him a quick lesson in how to roll the wraps on and how to use the Arizona EZ fletch with fletch tape and the boy was in business...

So when he finished fletching his arrows, I would put the superglue on the ends and set them out to dry...

He was so proud of his new arrows!  We shot after church today and his response was, "Dad, they fly like lazers!"

I love that boy!!!!

Got to tell ya it only gets better. You think you can't be any prouder and then they shoot their 1st deer and you say to yourself thats the best and then they give ya grandchildren and it starts all over. I have three of them.
Keep them close.

Welcome to the arrow making club.

How cool is this? Way!! I'd say!!

You can tell Alex he is way ahead of ole Mudd. His arrows are works of art and he already voted on how they work for him.

It just doesn't get any better than that!

Thanks for sharing.

God bless,Mudd

Well Adam,
Alex saw your reply so the contest was on One Arrow at the turkey, loser buys ice cream...So he grabbed his Javaman Tanjavur ( thanks again, Larry) and one of HIS new arrows and I grabbed my trusty Mike Baker(Canyon Archery Traditions) jaguar and an arrow and the contest was on...
Alex drew and anchored and let that new arrow of HIS fly....

and I drew my trusty bow, anchored, and shot and this was the result...

remember what his arrows look like?

He Wins!!!! Off to get ice cream on Dad now!!!  ;)
