I prefer tied on, above and below. Sometimes just a couple bumps with floss, sometimes with serving thread. When I use the serving thread I extend enough above and below to cover the area my fingers contact the string.

I prefer tie-on.  I have used serving material and even dental floss with good luck.  I like the colored floss for contrast ;-)

I also prefer a tie-on nock. Mostly because I like to have a nock on top and below my arrow and two brass nocks set up like that just looks ugly.
