Hunting chair ideas..
« on: August 23, 2010, 07:22:00 PM »
I don't know about others but i have gone through a dozen folding lawn chairs and they don't hold up to everyday hunting. Also they are somewhat hard to shoot from.  I also have a few of those little folding Camo stools and chairs and they are so darn short my legs and back scream at me after sitting in them three hours. Or they sink in the ground.. My wife can't hunt above ground out of tree stands due to injury so she is going to be a ground pounder. We tryed buckets and they aren't cutting it either. Anybody got the ticket we need? Folding and somewhat light weight and not a bear to carry? Looking for ideas. Thank you.

The HuntMore chair.  I have one, and love it.  I ust never get to sit in it at camp, because it usually has someone elses butt in it.

I made my own Torges seat.  Just use some plywood and rope and away you go.

Vic, I've used all listed above and like the Double Bull Chair most of all. I hunt 80% on the ground and find it very comfortable, they also make a magnum now.

I completely had a brain fart and forgot about the Torges seat! It would work great in some of our areas. Even Greywolf said she could handle that. But not so good in others.  Thanks Blackhawk for bringing that back to my mind. I'll check out the others above mentioned.

I have a small 4 leg folding chair that has a back. No arms on the chair so you can shoot a bow no problem. I'll take pix in the day light and post them for you.

It's the chair in the middle, I have the other 2 there to show the size. I'll take pix in daylight with me in it and holding a bow to show how I use it..

To help from sinking in to the ground use a piece of carpet little bigger then the space of the feet and You won't sink.

Mysticguido those are ok chairs for you little fellars. But this bear can trash one of those in three days. They always break at the hub joint, or blow out the rivet where the braces cross.

I'm starting a HuntMore chair fund.

I am using the DB Magnum now but if I can be more comfortable... well I'm worth it..lol

I am also going to try the Torges Tree Seat this year. It looks like it will work well for where I intend to hunt this season.

Check out the Niff T Seat.  http://www.nifftseat.com/information.htm  I have one and love it. Comfortable and compact. You can sit on it stradling it or side to side.

If you have a medical supply store nearby, take a look there.  I bought a bath chair that has adjustable aluminum legs and a plastic seat and back.  The legs and back are detachable so that it can be carried in a small duffle bag.  The seat is wide and curved providing ample room for a mature gentleman's butt.  The price was $59 (also no sales tax - medical supply).

I like the DB Magnum as well. Easy to carry and a lot cheaper than the "Huntmore" which has been getting some negative customer service reviews for a while. Seems they have a problem with a parts supplier. Everywhere I've looked the "Huntmore" is out of stock.
