I have four hung at home, four hung on a fella's property who lets my dad and me hunt, one on some family land, and a couple others lying about just in case. But I'm still likely to spend as much time wandering around on the ground as up in the trees anyway. I'd guess it at about 50/50, or close at least. I do better in the stands, but I get bored and like to see the country.

I have one tree stand and it goes with me all the time. I'm liable to sit in a 30-40 different locations a year, and hunt off the ground some too.

Last time I counted I had in the mid 30's lock-on stands. Have around 15 up now and maybe 4-5 more to hang around home in Indiana. Keeping 7-8 free for my trip to Missouri in November. Generally have around 30 trees at home here either hung with a stand or ready to jump into if necessary.
Year to year I end up not hunting at all in around 1/2 of the stands I hang in the summer...something changes or whatever...I have some stands I've hung 3 years running and never sat. Some day I'll kill a mature buck out of one of those stands, though, so I keep hanging them. Whew, this deer hunting is a full time-year round job!

Generally between 20 and 40...depending on acerage I have. Normally, I get a new spot to hunt, then lose it. The last couple years I hunted public land exclusively, since I only had 20 private acres to hunt. This year, I've got more ground...so I have alot of stands up. This does not count the number of times I hang a stand during season. Too many options is much better than not enough.

By the way...in many areas, I no longer actually hang a stand. This is due to the fact that each year I have stands stolen. Often what I like to do now...is put screw steps in all of my trees, and then carry my lone wolf hang on stand each time in and out. It's small and light enough to not bother me hanging it each day, and comfortable that I can sit all day in November.

I have 3 two person ladder stands, great for taking my boys on youth hunts and for the bigger guys in camp, not to mention the wife loves the extra room. Also have 10 single ladder stands and 2 pop up blinds sitting on about 500 acres. Lots of options for the number of people that hunt the property and it leaves plenty of sanctuary spots for the deer as well.

Questioned was posed a couple years back so out of curiosity I started counting them the past couple years.
I climb over 20 different trees a year. Very portable Windwalker stand goes in and out with me every stand. Most trees I leave climbing steps year after year (backing them out a turn or two each year to keep from embedding) although in new trees will usually use climbing sticks first. If I like the tree set-up and return, will then screw in steps leaving them except for the bottom 3 or 4 to keep out of most people’s line of sight. Then I only have to carry a maximum of four steps the next trip.
Have hundred of dollars in steps out there now in trees…8^)

3 ladders, a climber, and about 8 hang on's that stay in place most of the year, and one Lone Wolf Assalt that I jump around with. I would have more if I could, but I get buy with those on the three places I hunt most.

i own 295 acres and have 23 stands when adding in the 3 on the ground. My friends joke, 1 for every 10 acres, well almost. I Never hunt a stand two days in a row, & I never hunt a stand with a bad wind , ever!

It really depends on how many acres you are hunting and open pasture / crop land is included in it. Terrain also figures into it. There are only so many funnels and good spots.

Chuck C was 'chuckling' about that - 1 at a time - but there is wisdom in that.
1. If you leave them unattended you may lose them - unless you have them on secure private land.
2. I believe here in Montana the DFW very much frowns on unattended tree stands. (What is the case in you State?)
