phenolic tips

anybody know how to put these on? I've got a pair -- red & black squares, anyway, from 3Rivers -- got the Kwik-It Blue (thick), just have no idea how to get from these blocky squares to tips. also, do you apply it to bare wood, or over the stuff you used to seal?
also, when I ordered them, I thought they were just to protect the tips, kind of like a rubber cap or something. but do they make them structurally stronger too?
thanks for any help. just learning. at a very slow pace.

Im am not a bow builder but i can tell you what i have learnd and i know someone with a lot more info will chime in.
It sounds like you ordered and recived tips to build a bow with, they are used to reinforce the tip of a the limb you would glue them on, file and sand to shape, file in a string grove.
I also sounds like you wanted just a tip protecter. They are made of rubber or leather and slip over the bottem tip or your bow. This will protect the tip from damage when you stuff the bottom limb of you bow in the ground or lean it on a tree. It protects the finsh which keeps out moisture.
If this sounds right return what you orderd and get what you need. And just a bit of info on tip protectors, some guys use them and some dont i dont, I always put the bottom limb tip on the top of my shoe or lay the bow on its side

I may be wrong, but I think the phenolic tip material can also be used to upgrade older non-fastflight compatible bows to fastflight compatible. I would love to do that with a couple of my bows, but I have absolutely no wood working skills, and would probably ruin my bows if I tried it.

yeah, I stand my bow on my toe as well, just feels natural. and, really, and shallowly, I kind of just thought those phenolic tips looked cool (see:
http://www.3riversarchery.com/ListProduct.asp?offset=4
). and if they helped the bow last, all the better.
but yeah, not sure if I'll install or return. if I could just figure how to go from these bulky squares of whatever to those cool tips on the 3Rivers site. something to do with the glue heating things up, I'd guess, but it was $17 or something -- don't want to just start glueing, see what happens. because I can spend $17 in a lot more ways than just making a mess. I can make a mess for free, I mean.
